The story of Tanjiro Kamado, the protagonist of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," begins as a boy whose family was taken by demons, but the story of his growth and the bonds he forms with his friends has captured the hearts of many fans. Tanjiro fights for his life as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his sister Nezuko, who has turned into a demon, back into a human, but he overcomes difficulties and grows as a person. In this episode, Osamu Manga looks back on the trajectory of Tanjiro's growth and delves deeper into the story of the bonds he forged along the way!

1. Parting with family and the beginning of determination

The story begins when Tanjiro's family is killed by demons and his only surviving sister, Nezuko, is turned into a demon. Tanjiro's grief at losing his family is immeasurable, but he is determined to protect Nezuko and find a way to turn her back into a human.

Early on, Tanjiro is kind and warm-hearted, but he is still immature as a warrior. His kindness is shown in the way he pities even demons, and in his battles with demons, there are many scenes in which he sympathizes with the suffering and background of his opponents, even if they are his enemies. However, that is also part of his strength, and it is moving to see him gradually gain strong mental strength and determination through his battles with demons.

Osamu Manga thought this! Tanjiro's initial determination is the driving force of the entire story. Even after losing his family, I was really moved by the way he stood up to protect Nezuko. His strength is not just physical, but also mental.

2. Joining the Demon Slayer Corps and Days of Training

Before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro underwent harsh training under Urokodaki Sakonji. In this training, he continues to put in effort to master the Water Breathing technique, which is the basis of the Demon Slayer Corps, even to the point of slicing rocks. In particular, the scene where he slashes a giant rock as his final test is an important moment in which Tanjiro surpasses his limits and takes a step forward as a warrior.

What Tanjiro learned here was not only strength, but also the strength of the heart and the importance of bonds with friends and masters. In particular, his interactions with Urokodaki and his deceased disciples had a great influence on Tanjiro and led to his growth. In addition, his meeting with Tomioka Giyuu at the final selection of the Demon Slayer Corps was a major turning point for him.

Osamu Manga thought this! The moment Tanjiro cut the rock was moving, as it seemed like his efforts had been rewarded. The training was tough, but the process of overcoming it and becoming a full-fledged Demon Slayer Corps member symbolizes his growth.

3. Meeting with friends: Battles that deepen bonds

Meeting with friends had a great impact on Tanjiro's growth. In particular, as he carried out missions for the Demon Slayer Corps with Agatsuma Zenitsu and Hashibira Inosuke, he came to trust in the strength of his friends and improve himself. Zenitsu's timidity and Inosuke's roughness also become the catalyst for bringing out the true strength of each of them as their bond with Tanjiro deepens.

By fighting alongside them, Tanjiro learns the importance of helping each other and not fighting alone. In particular, in the battle at Mount Natagumo, he activates Hinokami Kagura with Nezuko and defeats the demon Rui, a moment when his growth was clearly felt. In this battle, Tanjiro gains new powers and at the same time reaffirms that the bonds with his family and friends support him.

Osamu Manga thought this! It's really great to see the friendship between Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Tanjiro deepen. Even though they each have their own flaws at first, Tanjiro's kindness and leadership draw them together, and it was really moving to see them grow!

4. Trials and determination in the Mugen Train arc

Another major event that symbolizes Tanjiro's growth is the battle in the Mugen Train arc. In this episode, Tanjiro meets the Flame Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku, and is greatly influenced by his way of life and beliefs. In particular, the scene where Rengoku loses his life in the battle with Akaza deeply moved Tanjiro and gave him even more resolve.

Rengoku's last words, "Burn your heart," are deeply engraved in Tanjiro and have a great influence on his fighting and living style thereafter. While inheriting Rengoku's will, he decides to follow his own path and resolves to become even stronger as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Osamu Manga Thoughts! Rengoku's death was a big challenge for Tanjiro, but it was moving to see him overcome it and become even stronger. I think the way he fights with Rengoku's words in his heart is a testament to his "growth."

5. Hinokami Kagura and the bond with his father: Looking at Tanjiro's roots

Tanjiro's bond with his family is once again strongly depicted in the "Hinokami Kagura" that he inherited from his father. His father once taught Tanjiro this Kagura dance, and the dance is deeply connected to his swordsmanship. Hinokami Kagura is a powerful technique that is activated when Tanjiro exceeds his limits, and plays an important role in his growth.

Tanjiro gains new powers by mastering this Kagura technique during his battles with demons. However, not only that, the way he fights while feeling the bond with his family and the legacy he inherited from his father is a major point of his growth. For Tanjiro, his family is his reason for fighting and also the source of his strength.

Osamu Manga thought this! Every time Tanjiro uses Hinokami Kagura, I feel his deep bond with his father, which is moving. It's really wonderful to see him continue to cherish his family and turn those feelings into strength!
